Abstract
This thesis discusses the use of cultural mobility in the novels North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell, and Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens, and in the television adaptations of these novels. The theory used is based on Stephen Greenblatt's Cultural Mobility: A Manifesto.
