Abstract
This research gives answer to the question; To what extent will private autonomous vehicles change the work-related mode choice behaviour, using the theory of planned behaviour, of relevant mobility groups in the Netherlands? Five mobility groups are made, with different travel behaviour patterns. A survey was conducted and four interviews were conducted to accomplish the quantitative results with more context. The survey research found that car-drivers have a higher expectancy to change their main mode of transport into an AV. Besides, individuals who are more familiar with AVs are statistically significant more likely to change their main transport mode into an AV than individuals with less knowledge about AVs. For the dimension subjective norm no remarkable conclusion was found in this study. According to these analyses, a high educated male is most likely to buy an AV. This study contributes to the broader discussion about the changing mobility network. Stating that idea of seeing AVs as preferred modality is not an argument shared among everybody. So, AVs should be shared and not privately owned, and they would have a lower degree of automation. Suggesting that AVs are unlikely to reduce our dependency on the car.
