Abstract
Beyond the humanitarian tragedy and mortality of COVID-19, there is massive uncertainty about almost every aspect of the COVID-19 crisis. This paper tries to contribute to the knowledge of how the COVID-19 pandemic interacts between dynamic capabilities and new venture performance. The dynamic capabilities framework helps one understand the costs and payoffs to agility, when to build agility, and when not. This paper aims to formulate managerial implications on surviving and growing a new venture in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The hypotheses were tested using an anonymous questionnaire, with 75 respondents exclusively from the Netherlands. After analysis, 65 valid respondents remained. Contrary to the hypothesized relationships, not all dynamic capabilities have been supported by the results. Based on this study's results, new ventures managers or entrepreneurs should use an open innovation process to improve new venture permeance. Also, in times of COVID-19, managers or entrepreneurs should not focus attention on sensemaking since this the focus on what makes things do well or bad must nut guide the company towards future decisions. It should not be forgotten that many variables influence venture performance; venture performance cannot be explained from a single perspective
