Abstract
In both the Netherland and United states biodiversity loss has increased over the years, but institutions are working on strategies for effectively increasing biodiversity. Biodiversity loss can be seen in both natural environments and urban environments. Having a healthy biodiverse ecosystem is important in urban environments to stabilize and increase the amount of native flora and fauna, and to help enhance the health and well-being of people. The research for this paper has three parts (1) to gain an understanding of the motivations internal and external stakeholders of two universities (Radboud University and University of Maryland) have for improving green space and biodiversity on campus. (2) It investigates the reciprocity stakeholders at institutions have towards green space and biodiversity. (3) Determines the importance of green space and biodiversity on university campuses, and the benefits they provide.
