Abstract
In our society there is a noticeable shift towards more awareness of living in a way that makes that we leave this world in a way that future generations can still inhabit this planet. In the Netherlands this shift towards stimulating more sustainable ways of moving around is also present. In the public transport sector one way transport operators are looking to make their public transport lines and bus lines especially more attractive towards travelers is by ‘stretching’ their lines. A result of this practice is a growing first- and last mile for bus travelers. One of the options for bridging this growing first- and last mile is the realization of shared bike systems at certain bus stops. Including these shared bikes into the public transport concession can be chosen as a way of organizing this. This research looks for the influencing factors into the opinion of stakeholders towards the inclusion of shared bike systems into the public transport concession. Factors as level of urbanization or previous experience with this organizational structure seem to be of influence. But it is important to note that every geographical area needs a custom approach.
