Abstract

This study dives into the world of ESG preferences and the determinants of these preferences. The determinants observed in the literature are time preferences, risk preferences and big five personality traits. The data is collected from the LISS survey in the Netherlands and uses 3944 individuals to test the relation between ESG preferences and the determinants. This study uses a linear probability model and a logistic regression to test the equations. In the end it is found that the traits extraversion, openness, conscientiousness and agreeableness have significant effects with the ESG preferences of someone, whereas risk preferences and time preferences are only significant in some of the models which means that there is no support for a correlation with ESG preferences.
