Educating internet users about phishing as a last line of defence is an important tool at our disposal to prevent cyber crime. In this study two methods are com- pared for their e ectiveness in training individuals to correctly classify URLs into two categories; phishing URLs or normal URLs. One of these training methods uses a simple document, whereas the other is the gami ed version of the aforementioned document. The gami cation was based on a recent guideline for structural gami - cation. An experiment was conducted to evaluate the e ectiveness of both training methods. The data showed that both methods were proven to increase the partici- pants accuracy in classifying URLs, although there was not a signi cant di erence between the two training methods. The data ts the mixed bag of results that is research on gami cation and also education on cyber security issues.en_US
