dc.description.abstractTrain station areas in the Netherlands have to deal with ever-increasing circumstances. Stations in urban areas have to deal with more traffic and spatial developments that are being built closer and closer to the station. Contrarily, stations in rural areas have to deal with a decrease in the number of travellers and disappearing services and facilities. In both situations, the quality of life and accessibility are under pressure. A development that may respond to these changing circumstances is Mobility as a Service (MaaS). In broad terms, MaaS refers to the integration of, and access to, a variety of transport services, real-time travel information and payment in one digital mobility app. With that, MaaS is seen as a solution to guarantee and improve the accessibility of various areas, and at the same time create more efficient use of transport modes, and with that land use. However, since MaaS is still a new phenomenon, its influence on the use of various pre- and post-transportation modes and spatial planning at different types of train stations still uncertain. Therefore, this research aims to gain more insights on the development of MaaS and its impact on the node- and place-value of different train stations.en_US
