Abstract
This thesis explores the drivers behind collective action in care communities, specifically focusing on the socio-psychological motives underpinning such actions. Through an in-depth qualitative comparative case study, this research investigates the socio-psychological motives of actors in two distinct care communities, examining how these motives interrelate and contribute to collective action. The findings indicate that actors typically exhibit a blend of instrumental, affective, and moral motives, which are not mutually exclusive but rather interwoven. This interplay among motives reinforces each other, establishing a strong foundation for collective action. It nurtures a collaborative culture and mutual support, aimed at achieving shared goals and addressing societal issues. This study provides critical insights for managers aiming to mobilize actors in care communities, underscoring the importance of understanding and addressing the underlying motives that drive collective action.
