The question whether rightward verb movement exists in OV languages has been long debated. There is however still no consensus in the field on whether it exists or not. This thesis will outline and review arguments that have been presented in favour of and against rightward verb movement, consequently trying to establish whether rightward verb movement should be adopted or not. The different arguments concern Dutch verb clusters, clauses involving ellipsis in Japanese, the difference in parsibility between centre-embedded clauses between Japanese and Korean, (im)mobility of the V-te clause in Japanese and the difference in scopal relations between different speakers of Korean. After reviewing all the arguments, the following tentative conclusions can be made: Dutch and Korean do not possess rightward verb movement, whereas Japanese does possess rightward verb movement.en_US
