Abstract

The following research is a study of the Dutch community of Castrolanda, located in Parana, Brazil. This research aims to explore how Dutchness take shape and meaning in the collective memory of the community of Castrolanda. The methodology used was a qualitative analysis and ethnographic research divided into two analyses: first the interview analysis applied to a selected number of Portuguese transcribed interviews done with immigrants from the second and third generations between the years of 2021 to 2023. The second was an analysis of the permanent exposition of the Castrolanda Cultural Centre, conducted with the Auxiliary Guide texts. Considering the outcomes of this research, it was understood that Dutchness takes shape and meaning in the material and immaterial heritage in the Cultural Centre of the community Castrolanda, but also in the family and group setting, the Dutch identity is represented through the community’s sense of belonging.
