To answer the research question, a single case study will be used. This to gain empirical evidence from people in the organization. Since people in the organization are the experts of the organization, they know and understand best what is happening in the organization. Specifically, this research will be done at a municipality, to gain knowledge on how the design of the team structure and leadership communication influences the involvement of employees. This study makes a conceptual contribution as this research fills a gap in the literature, which is the influence of leadership communication on employee involvement. Also, this study makes a practical contribution as leadership knows that one-way communication from the leadership through the organizational hierarchy in combination with a hierarchical team structure negatively influences employee involvement.
