Abstract

This study aimed to get insight into (1) the direct relationship between self-efficacy, work engagement, autonomy, social support and readiness to change, and (2) the moderating role of social support on the relationships between self-efficacy, work engagement, autonomy and readiness to change. The findings should help the chairmen of a bank to prepare their employees for upcoming changes. To test these hypotheses, a cross-sectional online survey has been conducted. In total, 142 employees of a public bank based in Germany participated in the study. The results of a hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed that self-efficacy and work engagement have significant effects on readiness to change. The other predictors and interactions showed no significant relationships with readiness to change. The study emphasizes the importance of determinants on attitude towards future changes in bank-employees. Key words: readiness to change, self-efficacy, work engagement, autonomy, social support
