Abstract

In the theory of green republicanism, there is an aim of getting towards a sustainable society. The sustainable society also refers to a non-exploiting relationship between the human and the non-human world. This relationship gets more and more polluted and we see climate change being categorised as a super wicked problem. One of the reasons that environmental change is a super wicked problem is because of the international consequence and connection between nations. Green republican thinking has focused on the national level of sustainability. This thesis will work on an answer to the question of what the international aspects of green republicanism should be, and tries to find a pathway from green republican theory towards international cooperation. The concept that is central to this argument is vulnerability. The thesis will show how vulnerability works on an international level and how this can be included in other existing ideas about international republicanism.
