Abstract
This thesis tries to explain the occurrence of the risk-regulation reflex. Often the lack of knowledge in cases of crisis is believed to be the primary source of the reflex. This thesis investigates another explanation. Because of the strong link between decision making and personality, the big five personality traits were chosen as explanatory variable. The research question is: which personality traits can explain the occurrence of the risk-regulation reflex?
The analysis showed that every personality trait has an influence on the occurrence. Conscientiousness and extraversion have a positive influence. Agreeableness, openness to experience and emotional stability have a negative influence. There is a caveat, however, in this conclusion. Due to an insufficient dataset the statistical results that we report on are not significant.
