Abstract
As companies expand abroad on one end, while students and professionals in turn move abroad to pursue their careers, these structures are often characterized by a high level of multiculturalism and internationalization. A great amount of research has been done in recent years both as to quantify a person’s attitude towards such multicultural settings and to the skills needed to prevail in them. However, little research exists that combines aspirations and attitudes towards such work environments with the actual fit of a person to their job in a multicultural setting. This study researched the effects of self-assessed intercultural competence – using the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire (MPQ) – and Foreign Language Competence (FL) in English on person-organisation and person-job fit. However, no significant results were found. Potential explanations and future research directed are discussed.
