Abstract

Focusing on pride regarding the Great Place to Work programme, this study intends to give recommendations about the development of organization X towards increased pride among employees by studying personal, collective, emotional and attitudinal pride, together with perceptions about the organizational environment contributing to pride. A practice-oriented, diagnostic, deductive, qualitative, single-case study is conducted through analysis of documents, nine semi-structured interviews and a focus group, using template analysis. Personal, emotional pride among employees is high. Personal, attitudinal pride is less high because of several barriers in work. Collective, emotional pride is high among office personnel, due to high identification with company X. As a consequence, their collective, attitudinal pride is influenced negatively, due to concerns about the context company X is situated in, concerns towards floor personnel and the quality of the product, implying that strong identification obstructs this pride. Floor personnel identifies themselves to a lesser extent with company X, caused by a low involvement with company X in terms of participation in decision making, interest from management and a negative perceived culture of recognition, leading to low collective, emotional pride and no attitudinal pride.
