Abstract
For people with aphasia, the loss of language has a significant impact on real-world communication. As a result, people with aphasia develop problems with participating in society and establishing relationships. This study aims to evaluate gesture use in people with aphasia in real-world communication compared to controls. To test the hypothesis that people with aphasia use more gestures than people without aphasia (which could lead to a more successful real-world communication), the data of a collaborative, referential communication task were studied. The results showed no significant difference between the group of people with aphasia and a healthy control group because the results were inconclusive.
