Abstract
As the demands of the market changes almost every day, continuous development of members is needed in order to remain winning. The implementation of internal marketing activities plays a crucial role in this. Members are considered as internal customers which demands are also constantly changing, therefore it is important for leaders to participate in Internal Marketing activities. When not adapting to the internal market, blockades between Leaders and followers will occur. This results in a decrease of individual performance. Performance studies in the service industry show individual performance is influenced by Leadership Style, with Well-Being as a possible mediator. In contradiction, in the sports industry well-being is not taken in consideration in this relationship. This thesis aims to fill this gap in the academic literature by testing the service industry literature in two different contexts. The other aims focus on providing insights designing internal marketing activities for leaders and members, regarding to the model tested. An online questionnaire with 164 respondents was analyzed. Results show that well-being significant mediates the relationships between a Charismatic-, Transactional-, Autocratic Leadership style and Individual Performance. No significant effects of Passive Leadership style occurred. Results show no significant differences between athletes and service employees. Findings regarding to Internal Marketing are discussed in chapter 5.2.
