Abstract

This thesis examines the perceived value of the business incubator resources in the startups' strategic pivot process. Using a qualitative in-depth interview approach, the data for this study were collected by utilizing semi-structured interviews with multiple startup founders. The key results of this study indicated that the perceived value of the BI mainly depended on business-related experience, technological expertise, and familiarity with the target market. Also, the data revealed that the intangible resources provided by the business incubators, especially mentorship, peer startup network, and workshops, significantly supported the strategic pivot process. This research extends theoretical understanding of external resource influence on strategic pivots, highlighting intangible resources as critical for entrepreneurial learning during pivots. This research also provides guidance to BI managers in refining support mechanisms, emphasizing targeted provision of mentorship and networking to enhance startup adaptability and success in dynamic business environments.
