Abstract
This study examines the relationship between social network behavior and entrepreneurial behavior
within organizations, with a focus on the moderating role of transformational leadership. Drawing on
theories of social capital and leadership, the research hypothesizes that tertius iungens behavior
positively influences individual entrepreneurial behavior and that this relationship is moderated by an
individual’s perception of transformational leadership. Quantitative data were collected through an
online survey, resulting in a final sample of 54 respondents. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis
was used to test the hypotheses. Results indicate that tertius iungens behavior is positively associated
with entrepreneurial behavior. Contrary to expectations, the interaction effect revealed that the
relationship between tertius iungens behavior and entrepreneurial behavior was stronger for
individuals with lower levels of perceived transformational leadership. These findings suggest that
employees who span structural holes within the organization are more likely to act entrepreneurially,
even in the absence of strong transformational leadership. The study contributes to the literature on
social capital and entrepreneurship by highlighting the conditional role of leadership perceptions.
Limitations and suggestions for future research are discussed.
