This MA thesis project is meant to provide a consistent and clear edition of a selected number of conjurations from the second part of manuscript Sloane 3853 from the British Library, known as The Book of the Dannel. Accompanying these editions are several comprehensive and well researched introductions to provide cultural, historical, and mythological context, as well as an analysis of some of the conjurations. The purpose of this thesis was to research a manuscript that has not been researched much before, it being a sixteenth century magical text in the English vernacular, a branch that has seen relatively little research when compared to the research on its Latin-based counterpart.en_US
