Abstract

This thesis explores the relationship between female ownership and firm innovation in Eastern Europe. Subsequently, the impact of political instability on the relationship between female ownership and firm innovation is tested. Data from World Bank Enterprise Surveys have been used to gain a better understanding of the concepts of female ownership, firm innovation, and political instability. A linear regression analysis has been conducted to evaluate the research question. The results of this analysis reveal that there is no direct relation between female ownership and firm innovativeness. This thesis provides evidence that political instability has a moderating effect on firm innovation. The results indicate that firm age and the retail industry have a positive influence on firm innovation.
