A qualitative case study concerning the effect of an organizational structure on the functioning of an inter-organizational collaboration in the Dutch healthcare sector. This research has been conducted for a hospital in The Netherlands. The goal is to show how the structure may hinder external collaboration. In order to realize this goal, first a gap-analysis of the goals has been conducted. Second, factors are described that hinder this collaboration in realizing the goals. Lastly the structure is analyzed using the parameters from De Sitter (1997). Based on this analysis, it is argued that high values on the parameters have a negative influence on the functioning of a collaboration. Resulting thus in interesting findings regarding the effect of an organizational structure. However, the results indicate a first analysis, as more research on this topic is necessary.en_US
