Sustainable e-mobility services: research on how to increase the uptake of eHUBS in Nijmegen

dc.description.abstractDue to increasing urbanisation in cities and the impact of climate change, people rely more heavily on the current transportation network. There is a need for a sustainable mobility transition in order to deal with issues like congestion, environmental pollution, and other nuisance. Innovation that rely on electrical mobility services are promising but requires further research in order to change people’s habitual behaviour regarding the uptake of e-mobility. The Interreg North-West Europe program ‘eHUB’ is a pilot which aims to create knowledge and set up a blueprint for cities and regions to create a best practice regarding the uptake of electrical shared vehicles. This research aims to gain insight in the intention of (potential) users in Nijmegen to use the multimodal eHUB in Nijmegen. The Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) by Ajzen (1991) is used to explain travel behaviour characteristics of residents of Nijmegen. The data for this research is interpreted through a qualitative analysis (interviews) and a quantitative analysis based on the TPB (surveys). Results show the importance of embedding the eHUB concept in the culture of Nijmegen and familiarizing people with shared e-mobility services, as it creates the feeling to comply with the ‘new’ social standard.
