dc.description.abstractThe goal of this thesis was to make a comparison between the administrative and military officials of the fourth century Roman Empire. The comparison is limited to the highest officials and their relative hierarchical ranking and status respectively. The sources used in this research range from Roman historians like Ammianus Marcellinus and Zosimus to the formal sources like the Notitia Dignitatum and the Codex Theodosianus.en_US
