dc.description.abstract | This thesis analyzes perceived telecommuting productivity by applying a research lens that is based on socio-technical work design. Three key concepts are derived from socio-technical work design. These are employee empowerment, team coordination and organizational support. It is hypothesized that employee empowerment directly increases the telecommuting productivity of individuals who work from home. Furthermore, it is hypothesized that this relationship is positively moderated by team coordination and organizational support. The hypotheses are tested by analyzing data that is gathered from a digital survey, which included an ultimate sample of 155 telecommuters. The results of this research indicate that high employee empowerment has a significant positive effect on perceived telecommuting productivity. However, this relationship is not significantly moderated by either team coordination or organizational support. Moreover, there is some evidence that the causal effect of employee empowerment on telecommuting productivity might be mediated by the effect of team coordination on telecommuting productivity. | en_US |
