Abstract
This thesis is dedicated to researching the evolution of Canadian foreign policy in
light of the Korean War. Little has been written specifically dedicated to the interaction
between Canadian policymaking and the developments that were occurring in the world at
this time. This work seeks to contextualize Canadian foreign policy and its level of success to
within the confinements of the time and place it had to operate.
Over the course of three chapters, I analyze the progress that Canada has made as a middle power through the Korean War.I will show its evolution while also highlighting its effectiveness depending on the circumstances.
This thesis aims to deliver a fresh and detailed look at Canadian foreign policy during
an era where it had often been considered to be an afterthought.
