Abstract

AI chatbots have seen a large rise in adoption in the past few years, and this technology has a high potential for startups. However, information privacy concerns could potentially negatively influence the intention to keep using AI chatbots in the future. Although multiple papers have researched the influence of privacy concerns on adoption of AI Chatbots, researching the influence of privacy concerns on the intention to continuously use is rather new. This research uses the MDT-framework to understand the factors influencing information privacy concerns. A conceptual model is developed in which three antecedents of the MDT-framework, User Skill, Technological aspect, and Legal & Policy aspect are tested on information privacy concerns and in which privacy concerns are tested on intention to continuously adopt. A questionnaire has been developed, and PLS-SEM has been applied to test the hypotheses. This research found significant positive relationships between Technological aspect and Legal & Policy aspect and privacy concerns and a significant negative relationship between privacy concerns and the intention to continuously use. The relationship between technological aspect and privacy concerns has been found to be stronger than the relationship between Legal & Policy aspect and privacy concerns.
