dc.description.abstractIn this research, a type of education is investigated in which it is possible to focus on more than just measurable results and where not only the cognitive, but also the social and emotional development of children is taken into consideration. More precisely, it focuses on education that takes the cultural environment of youth into consideration and uses the interests of students in order to teach them. In doing so, this research centers upon education that takes one particular expression of the cultural interests of youth into consideration, namely the hiphop-culture. Through interviews and lesson observations, it investigates how hiphop is being used in Dutch high school education.en_US
