Abstract

This thesis investigates AI acceptance amongst recruitment professionals in Western Europe (the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Ireland and the UK) using the UTAUT model. This model investigates the following predictors of behavioural intention - performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions. The behavioural intention to use AI of participants and their use behaviour of AI is also measured. This is carried out via a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire with 17 statements distributed online through various platforms such as LinkedIn, email and other online platforms. Age, gender and years of experience of participants are included as control variables. The main objective of this research is to measure the acceptance levels of recruitment professionals in Western Europe, while there is also an objective to determine which industry has the highest level of acceptance, and to compare these results to existing research on AI acceptance in recruitment across the world. The main findings of this research on AI acceptance in recruitment in Western Europe were as follows. Performance expectancy has a significant effect on behavioural intention to use AI. It was found that effort expectancy did not have a significant effect on behavioural intention to use AI. It was also found that social influence did not have a strong influence on behavioral intention to use AI and that facilitating conditions did not have a significant influence on behavioural intention to use AI. Finally, it was also observed that behavioural intention has a significant effect on use behaviour of AI.
