Abstract

In the current study, the aim was to dissect the connection between behavioural (i.e., response time latencies) and electrophysiological (i.e., oscillations) data. The main expectation was that alpha-beta oscillations would correlate with response times – specifically in patients with the lesion in the right hemisphere but not in patients with the lesion in the left hemisphere. The context-driven picture naming task was employed during electroencephalography. Although no significant correlation was found, descriptively the results indicate the presence of the predicted effects. The relationship is visible in patients with a right-hemisphere lesion but not in patients with a left-hemisphere lesion, which is in line with the initial predictions. This can be interpreted as a confirmation that alpha-beta oscillations are potentially connected with response times and indeed support word retrieval processes, which are impaired in case of a left-hemisphere lesion.
