Abstract
This study aims to investigate how multiple stakeholders (i.e. a. employees; b. employer and c. external organizations) perceive the need to adjust the age-related policies of night shift workers in the pharmaceutical sector in view of the ageing workforce. This study aims to gain insight into the perception of multiple stakeholders with respect to the need and the approach to adjust age-related policies in view of the ageing workforce. These insights could contribute to the adjustment of age-related policies of night shift workers in organizations in response to the ageing workforce. To achieve these goals, a document analysis and interview study are conducted in a large pharmaceutical company. The results of the study show that organization X makes use of several age-related policies. However, despite the changing context, the policies still remain the same. The workforce of organization X is rapidly ageing and in the near future this will lead to problems in the organization of shifts: there will be too little (older) employees to work in night shifts. Whatever the new policy will be, it is important to take the needs and problems of the different multiple stakeholders into account. These are outlined and interpreted in the study.
