Abstract:
There is currently a great variety of sexual practices and a diversity of attitudes towards sexual morality in society. The issue of human sexuality, with special reference to homosexuality, remain unresolved and controversial both in secular and religious circles. Particularly in Nigeria, there is a legal ruling criminalizing homosexuality, which many are calling to be redressed because it is an infringement on the fundamental human rights. No doubt, there is a general objection to sexual behaviour that is non-consensual, forced, manipulative, or unsafe; yet, I expect that the old quotation: ‘little (half) knowledge may be a dangerous thing’ is never more applicable than to sexual knowledge. Thus, it is significant to recognize the various manifestations of human sexuality from various relevant points of view, to know whether homosexuals in Nigeria are to be ostracised and considered as criminals by the national legislation.
