Abstract
This thesis will be looking at the complex and contradictory representations of English national identity in small communities during the COVID-19 pandemic as portrayed in the comedy fiction podcast St Elwick’s Neighbourhood Association Newsletter Podcast. Using the method and theory of imagology, I will examine the function of the ethnotype of the English gentleman represented in the podcast in order to understand its function in comedy, podcasting and society.
