Abstract:
The field of transition studies has produced an expanding body of knowledge on transition patterns and transition pathways in the recent decade. These transition patterns can form transition pathways. Here, transition patterns represent sequences of events. The events can be regarded as the building blocks of a transition. The literature, however, remains unclear about what exactly constitutes an ‘event’. Therefore, to further conceptualize these events, the following research question was proposed: what is the role and meaning of events in the development of transition patterns in the value network of potato organizations embedded within the Dutch agri-food system? The research question has been addressed by means of a qualitative, single case study, in combination with desk research. It has focussed on the value network of Dutch potato organizations, embedded within the Dutch agri-food system. In total, twelve semi-structured interviews were conducted with different actors within the value network of Dutch potato organizations. The Multi-Level Perspective has been used as the analytical framework for analysing the data.
