This study discusses the performance management and measurement system (PMMS) at the audit firm EY in Arnhem. The framework of Ferreira and Otley (2009) is used to make a diagnosis of the PMMS. Furthermore, the framework of Broadbent and Laughlin (2009) is used to address instrumental and relational accountability at EY Arnhem. By making a diagnosis of the PMMS and addressing accountability relationships, various bottlenecks are identified. Based on the identified bottlenecks, various recommendations to improve the PMMS are suggested. This study is practically relevant for EY Arnhem, is a practical example of how the frameworks of Ferreira and Otley (2009) and Broadbent and Laughlin (2009) can be used and contributes to the discussion of instrumental and relational accountability in organizations.en_US
