In the three recent decades, the patriot revolution has been recognized as a formative event in Dutch political history. This bachelor thesis analyses an aspect of the counter-revolutionary forces, in the form of the Orangisten, which plead for maintaining the political status quo. The 'Oprechte Vaderlandsche Societeiten' were instrumental in the formation of a distinct conservative political culture during 1785-1787.en_US
